We are a family owned clothing and outdoor gear store located in Sonoma County, right in the heart of the California wine country. The store is still owned and run by the same owner. Jay Knick was a professional guide and enthusiastic adventurer 30 years ago, who was getting frustrated trying to find the gear he needed for his adventures. He started Sonoma Outfitters to address the need - finding reliable outdoor gear, shoes and clothing easily, in one place. There wasn't much out there to choose from and reliable products were few and far between.

Have we ever grown since then! What started out as a small outlet store that had to scrounge around to find enough good merchandise to sell, has grown as has the outdoor industry. Now there is a overwhelming selection of outdoor gear and clothing - the hard part is sifting through all the junk to find the gems. Seems we are still combing, sifting and scrounging, but now, instead of practically product choices, there is a seemingly endless sea of them! We spend a tremedous amount of time sifting through all the brands and products so that you don't have to. We listen and keep our ears open for some gem to carry and respond if a brand begins to forget about quality. We hate spending hard earned money on things that don't live up to reasonable expectations and we don't want you to either.

We specialize in great value and only carry quality outdoor clothing and gear that performs well for the money. We carry everything you need for camping, hiking, travel and boating - we still have a passion for all things outdoors and all the adventures that await. Celebrating our 31 years in operation, we bring a high level of experience to the outdoor clothing and gear business. We offer great hand-picked clothing, shoes and gear for women, men, and children chosen with an emphasis on reliable quality at a great price. All of our sales people are well trained by factory representatives and wear the clothing and use the gear we sell. We all love the outdoors and are active, outdoors kind of people.
